One year without blogging: what happened

One year without blogging: what happened during my absence from Fleur d’Hiver? Those of you who have been following me on Instagram probably felt like the day of my return on the blog was getting closer. I want to apologize to those who have been reading my blog, for suspending my activity without an explanation. I’ve stopped blogging for one year, it wasn’t planned. Since the beginning of it, I loved everything about being a blogger: the photos, the reviews, the creativity. I can’t explain why but last year, all in the sudden, I felt overwhelmed by all of it. I was pushing myself to write about the latest news,…

    Around Umbria

I love to go around Umbria: it’s the Italian region near Latium, only one hour away from Rome. As I wrote in the past, I feel very tight to this area because I came here a lot with my family. Now I still visit this area which I believe it offers everything. It has history, architecture, landscapes and great food…do we really need anything else? I believe that the Medieval villages are the most relevant treasure of Umbria. They are all in great conditions, while they maintain their charm. What feels amazing to me, is that people actually live there. It might sound obvious, but if we think about it…

    90’s Outfit

This 90’s outfit inspired me and I wanted to create a photo shoot with a modern twist. This 90’s look is versatile, it’s nice for the city and for the beach. At the same time, it’s very easy for everyone to recreate it. The shorts are high waist, and they are long on the back, I found them very comfortable because I usually feel like I need to adjust the shorts while walking. So, why the background is so modern if the look is from the 90s? I thought you might be wondering that, so here it is. I think that by combining this look with the modern surroundings is…

    Collistar Eyeliner

Hi ladies, I’m back with a review of Collistar Eyeliner Tecnico. I bought it in Rome, but since Collistar is an international brand I’m sure you can find it easily at Sephora. Many girls feel like the eyeliner is too difficult to apply, so they just give up or use something else. If you are the type of person that doesn’t feel comfortable applying an eyeliner, and maybe you are just as messy as I am, this review is for you. Keep reading to see what I found great about this eyeliner and to see my make up. Strenghts: Precision Color Waterproof Precision: This eyeliner has a strong edge, which…

    Roma Moderna – Modern Rome

Roma moderna is the italian translation of “modern Rome”. As a proud roman girl, I like to show every side of my city, Rome is indeed known for being the eternal city. While history and ancient ruins are almost behind every corner, Rome has also a modern quarter. It might come as a surprise, especially for someone who has never been there. I’m in the Eur quarter, which I have already shared in this post. More specifically, I’m by the Colosseo Quadrato which is also the  Fendi Headquarter. I’m wearing a casual look, perfect for the Fall season. This black and white sweater from Bershka is a new entry in…

    Pink and Black Outfit

This is a light pink and black outfit for everyday. It could be a solution for a first date or a chic outfit for the office. The style is easy to go, simple jeans and a knitted pull over are enriched with accessories. I never wear two different brands at the same time, because I don’t like seeing two different patterns. This time I’m making an exception, because the Burberry pattern is the only one appearing, and the Chanel bag’s logo is not too big. While a pink and black outfit looks good for a casual outfit, a white and pink combination could be a great solution for the same purposes.…

What to wear to a Ceremony

I fashion the question is always the same: what do I wear? Now I’m going to give one idea on what to wear to a ceremony. As you can imagine, May and June are the months of celebrations, almost everyone get married or get its confirmation  during spring, or at least that’s what happen in Italy. I was a guest at a ceremony in Rome, this outfit is perfect if you are attending as a guest. Light colors such as light blue or light pink are widely used in Italian ceremonies’ outfits. I picked this elegant Ermanno Scervino jacket and paired it with a Michael Kors bag. White pants are…

    Doubts

I had these pictures ready to be published, it just took me a month to post them, there are many reasons why it took me so long. I’ve done some thinking lately, for the first time during my years of blogging I felt like I wasn’t doing the right things and I’ve started to doubt myself. I’ve doubted my abilities and wondered if I could have done things differently and better than I have. Or maybe I haven’t done anything wrong, it’s just me expecting more from myself. Anyways, I felt like opening myself up to those of you who read my blog. Have you experienced this in your life, maybe…

    Aperitif Outfit

Spring is a magical season, I almost can’t recognize Rome with all these cherry blossoms. This post is dedicated to Carmen’s comment on the post Ask Alessia, thank you Carmen for asking to post an aperitif outfit. If anyone else wants to ask me what to wear, please feel free to get in touch with me and I’ll post an outfit on my blog as a response.  Now let’s see what Carmen said. “¡Holà Alessia! Ask Alessia

I’ve received an email from a girl that inspired me to create this new category “Ask Alessia“.  You can ask me to create an outfit for you, and I’ll share the pictures. I’m going to rename Sara the girl that wrote me, just to protect her privacy. The original email was in Italian, so I’m going to translate the email for you. Sara wrote me this: “Hi Alessia, I really like your blog and I’d like you to suggest me how to dress. I’ve recently bought a faux leather jacket but I don’t know how to wear it without looking too punk/gothic.” In our exchanges of emails she told me…
